Retriever Soap Works

Mistress Erden and Master Merry are masters of their craft.

Their wonderful soaps, lotions, and balms have become known throughout the seven kingdoms and are sought after throughout the Alabama and Florida Gulf Coast. Using the milk from their own herd of goats, all of their soaps are made by hand using only natural food-grade vegetable oils. Wonderful aromas come from the addition of scented oils distilled from plants.  Colors may come from the natural ingredients while others are created by using botanicals and minerals. Of course, any other additives like herbs, oatmeal, or egg are natural! If you plan well, you may see Mistress Pat at a milking demonstration or Master Merry telling the tale of soapmaking. Be sure to plan a stop at their market stall, meet the goats and the good artisans that keep them.

C.L.A.

The little shop with a bit of everything

Sir Chester, a valiant knight who earned his family’s bread and gave good service to his country, for many a year. But as with many a knight, alas, he never gained great honors nor won often at jousting. Never the less, his family was provided for. Came the day when Sir Chester became aged and could no more stand the rigors of the march, nor stay afield to train others. Since in this land no one receives sustenance for doing nothing, a solution needed to be found! It had become known through the years that Sir Chester had gained mastery over wood, and although siege towers and catapults he would no longer create, there were many another wondrous thing for his skill, some of which are the sturdy Royal thrones scattered thru-out our kingdom. His wife, Dame Judith and their last child at home the Maid Lynn, are known well in all the seven realms for their fabulous needlecraft. These two fine ladies have made clothing for man, woman, child, and beast as well as for the castle itself, although they usually leave beading and other embellishments to the guilds. As many persons in the village benefit from good serviceable, and comfortable clothing it was recognized that the skills of this talented family were of great use to the kingdom. Through the beneficence of our good King and Queen, this small family was given leave to have a booth at our yearly faire, to sell their wares. A special boon from the craft guilds was granted as they were mixed artisans. Here you will be encouraged to try on, inquire about the crafts or buy, if you please. You may find the ladies hard at work on their next project but they most gladly give instruction and if there be a lull they may even let you try your hand at needlecraft while visiting.
